“A Working day in the Daily life” with Toronto Visual Artist Tom Wilson
I very first satisfied Tom Wilson in 1980 at the Dundas Valley Faculty of Art, just outdoors of Hamilton, Ontario, the place I was a student and he was hired to strum his guitar at a reception there. Becoming associated in the local music scene as I was, I released myself to the lone stranger. Not prolonged afterwards, Tom emerged onto the Hamilton songs scene kicking and screaming as the frontman for nearby roots-based rockers, The Florida Razors. At the time, I was booking bands at a dive bar in the city’s west end. Way too several tales to inform right here about the shared adventures and encounters that ensued more than the up coming couple of several years, but we have been close friends and colleagues ever given that, related through artwork, spouse and children, and the close-knit circles of the Hamilton tunes and cultural scene. When I later on moved to Montreal I became included in the new music scene there, booking bands into bars and golf equipment, such as The Florida Razors and other groups from Hamilton. Throughout passes by Montreal, Tom designed a keen desire in visual artwork and frequented my studio over the several years. By the early 1990s, he had taken up painting, and our conversations and exchanges evolved from music to literature and artwork.

Which ’hood are you in?
I reside at the base of Niagara Escarpment in the South West pocket of downtown Hamilton Ontario. I’m fifty measures away from a biosphere and a earth absent from Toronto.
What do you do?
I get the job done to develop anything that was not right here yesterday.

I’m portray the final canvas for my upcoming art show at Cultural Good Gallery, composing my 2nd reserve for Penguin Random Dwelling and pumping out lines and new music for my engage in, “Beautiful Scars” which opens in April. Now fuck off I’ ‘m active.
