Acclaimed storm photographer Mike Olbinski is passionate about his craft. And so he preferred to create a spot for other storm photographers to display off their do the job and be rewarded at the exact same time. As a result, Storm Photographs of the Year—affectionately identified as The Stormys—was born. Now in its second year, the contest has just announced winners across three categories.
French photographer Alexis Maillard gained Photo of the Year for her evocative picture of a lightning bolt touching down in French wine region. Everett Occhipinti, who chases storms alongside with his identical brother, took residence the top rated prize for the greatest tornado photo of the calendar year. His highly effective photograph reveals a tornado descending on a town in Texas. Fantastically composed, the picture displays the prosperous textures of the cyclone.
The last category, Photographer of the 12 months, was judged based on a 10-impression portfolio. Winner Amy Howard was awarded 3rd area in past year’s portfolio contest but jumped forward of the other people this year. Her do the job displays a loaded range, with her capturing all the things from outstanding lightning strikes to dark, stormy clouds rolling by way of the sky.
