“Personal” and “truthful” pictures of people residing with cancer have been set on screen in a new exhibition to mark Planet Cancer Day.
The Uncooked Encounter of Cancer has been curated by Mia Davies, a professional photographer and cancer survivor.
The exhibition is becoming shown at the IronWorks group hub in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
The images on screen concentration on how the knowledge of most cancers has impacted all those dwelling with the disease.
Ms Davies took photographs of 21 individuals who have received most cancers procedure at hospitals in Southend and Basildon.
The mum-of-two from Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, claimed she wanted to clearly show how “empowered” the clients were being.
Ms Davies was identified with an intense breast cancer in January 2022, which resulted in her undergoing a double mastectomy.
Now most cancers no cost, she has even now been going through preventative therapy.
‘Photography became my solace’
Ms Davies reported: “When I was confronted with my have battle against breast most cancers, images grew to become my solace, a compelling outlet that aided me by way of the emotional ebbs and flows, like it often does.

“My granddad died of breast most cancers 15 decades in the past, so I know how really critical that is and if this eye-opening exhibition signifies one particular human being gets checked quicker than it has been a accomplishment,” she included.

Ms Davies said the women of all ages and guys who have been showcased as part of her images project have all had diverse activities with most cancers.
Ms Davies experienced her individual portraits highlighted in the demonstrate and reported: “I have scars in all unique destinations and [I am now] equipped to search at my scars and to be in a position to really feel proud.
“I commenced [the exhibition] to empower ladies and for them to see that they are continue to the exact individual and everything they have been by means of, you are still wonderful.”
The exhibition will run amongst 3-24 February.
